Normal Dragon Warrior (NES) Cheats
**** The below cheats are available to use on all games with out the use of a game genie or action replay ****
Death Necklace – Go into the mountain cave and get the treasure box at the bottom that gives you 130gp. Do this over and over about 15 times and you will get a death necklace. Go sell it at an item shop in Breconary.
1000 Gold – Fight the golem, defeat him any way you want, but don’t enter the city. Return to the king and save your game. Turn off the system, turn it back on and restore your game, and go to fight the golem again. He will give you 1000 more gold!

If you are lucky enough to own a Game Genie you can use the below codes in Dragon Warrior NES cheats on the NES. If any of the codes do not work, or if you know of any that do work that I did not mention please post about it in a comment below.
- VKVLPP – Walk through walls, but might get stuck. Sometimes normal terrain acts as walls.
- AEVGUIZA – Take no damage in swamps.
- SXOIVLSA – Infinite MP and Spells use 0 MP.
- VKOIVLSA – All spells use only 1 MP.
- VVOYYTSA – Start with 256 gold, Healmore Spell, and Princess is already rescued.
- VVPYAT – Start game with 65,535 gold, Level 30, Magic Key, 9 Herbs, Erdrick’s Sword and Armor, Silver Shield, and also watch the game ending.
- VVPYLT – Start game with Hurtmore, Princess saved, 4 Silver Harps, 8 Herbs and Magic Keys, Flame Sword, Magic Armor, and Large Sword, Level 29, 65,535 gold, 65,280 EXP, Max HP 200, and 218 MP.
- VVPYZT – Start game at Level 6, 255 HP, Heal and Hurt spells.
- YAKKEVYA – Barriers cause half usual damage.
- ZTZTLT – Excellent hit every time.
- GLSPOTPE – 60 EXP for defeating Slimes.
- IYSPOTPE – 125 EXP for defeating Slimes.
- NYSPOTPE – 255 EXP for defeating Slimes.

If you are playing Dragon Warrior on Emulator (Or another NES emulator which supports cheat codes) there are a ton of cheat codes you can use. You can basically use any of the codes listed under the Action replay codes + Game Genie Codes sections, you simply need to enter the required code as per below.

To active the cheat code you want launch the Emulator application and load your game, Then click on the cheat menu > “Game Genie, Pro-Action Replay Codes”
On the next screen enter the cheat code in “Enter Cheat Code” field, Then add a description and click on add then click ok to close this screen. The cheat code will now be activated, please note with some codes need you to reset the game for the code to activate.
